my dream of built in bookcases

life has been a bit busy, so i apologize for not being able to update (i think this will be my m.o. from here until eternity...)

when i was little, i was a reading nut. my mom would sign us up for these contests our local library held during the summer on how many books one child could read. with my competitive nature, i took this seriously and would literally check out more books than my tiny 8 year old arms could carry. but i didn't care. i loved it.

when i started college as a theatre major and hated it, i knew the perfect switch would be to english. when i spoke with my advisor on why i wanted to switch, i explained i had a love of books and enjoyed getting lost in a really great book. she told me that would quickly die if i became an english major because of the amount we had to read and the tedious nature of always having to analyze and not sit back and enjoy (what a great advisor...).

well, my love of books didn't die, but my law school agenda kept me from being able to read as much as i wanted. so for the past 3 years, i have lived a life of getting to read one maybe two books over christmas/summer vacations...until now!

last week we went on vacation for five days to north carolina (one of my all-time favorite states). and all i did i feel like was read and it was amazing....in fact, currently i'm at our local library and whenever i'm finished preparing for my interview tomorrow i can guarantee i will play in the library for a bit looking for new fun books to read...

which brings me to my dream...built in bookcases throughout my house...i want them all over the living room, in the office, in the hallways. i love them. one of my great friends from college, his parents have the best built-in bookcases in literally every room and every hallway of their sweet chicago apartment. the first time i went there i spent literally 4 hours just looking at all of the books the 2 of them had accumulated over the years. so that is why whenever i start to have money again, i am going to hit up amazon.com and half-price books. i think i need to start re-accumulating books to fill my bookcases.
