ma-ma-ma-ma my ramona

the first chapter book i ever read was "ramona the pest" by beverly cleary.
i remember very clearly sitting in the gold recliner in our living room (which was like an oversized chair to me at the time) and devouring every word of this book.
what can i say, i loved her.
and from then on, i read every ramona quimby book. she was my hero.
so when i heard a movie of the book was coming out, i got excited!
....
until i read the full article. and now i am upset.
i can only say..."oy vey." (i've always had a weird feeling ramona should be jewish..)

p.s. i won my first OVWI trial today and am going out to celebrate w/ my boy :)

i'll be home for christmas...

when i was little and had one of those christmas vacation things (ok, i can't complain, this is my first year sans one...), we always made our cookies for christmas on december 23rd. my mom had a specific cookie or two she made with each one of us. we would get all dressed in clothes we didn't mind splattering chocolate on, dripping egg on, or getting dirty from self-imposed food fights. then we would each get OUR time with our mom preparing our house for the noisy prinz/lickteig christmas. i loved this day almost as much as i loved licking the spoon to everything, because being the baby has its perks...

well this year we are hosting LPH's family at our apartment for christmas eve. since i have no christmas break (and even have court christmas eve morning!), i must bake today the cookies and brownies. i'm wishing my mommy was here for this (though she probably will be via phone several times...).
