yes, we need a little christmas!

from shbug7's etsy site, here.

ok, i know it's a little early to start thinking about christmas.
we haven't even got through my favorite holiday yet.
however, i want this little apron.
how cute is it!
i think i deserve it.
also, we just decided we're hosting LPH's family christmas
at our apartment this year again.
which means a full day in the kitchen with christmas music
and yummy smells...
so the apron could get quite the work out!

p.s. the 20 year old me is freaked out how exciting it is
to me to spend a whole day in the kitchen.

i'll be home for christmas...

when i was little and had one of those christmas vacation things (ok, i can't complain, this is my first year sans one...), we always made our cookies for christmas on december 23rd. my mom had a specific cookie or two she made with each one of us. we would get all dressed in clothes we didn't mind splattering chocolate on, dripping egg on, or getting dirty from self-imposed food fights. then we would each get OUR time with our mom preparing our house for the noisy prinz/lickteig christmas. i loved this day almost as much as i loved licking the spoon to everything, because being the baby has its perks...

well this year we are hosting LPH's family at our apartment for christmas eve. since i have no christmas break (and even have court christmas eve morning!), i must bake today the cookies and brownies. i'm wishing my mommy was here for this (though she probably will be via phone several times...).

light me up

i know, i've been missing as of late. but i am making a pre-new year's resolution to update, for pretty bride's sake.

today is one of my favorite days. and no, i am not a black friday shopper. i have never been once in my life and i never plan to start (although technically we are heading to target today, but only because we are going to pick up more IU ornaments for our IU christmas tree...pics will be posted soon).

today is one of my favorite days because...it kicks off the christmas season. i love LOVE love this season. the lights, the decorations, the red cups at starbucks, and just the generally feeling of cheer from most people. and i am so excited to get to walk around downtown every day with it all decorated for christmas. tonight logan and i (and a couple of friends) are headed downtown for the circle of lights celebration where they light up monument circle. i cannot wait to indulge in my red cupped starbucks peppermint mocha and watch as this city kicks off my favorite season...

but for now, i will return to my couch position in front of my christmas tree and read. awww..its nice to relax.
